STATEMENT OF BELIEFS
Statement of Beliefs:
Salvation:
I believe that Jesus Christ is the ONLY way to get to God. There is NO OTHER name by which we can be saved. Anyone who calls upon the name of the Lord WILL be saved.
John 14:6 “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Acts 4:12 “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved.”
Sin:
I believe that everyone is born in sin. I believe that everyone sins; however, if we will admit that to the Lord, He WILL forgive us of ALL sin.
Romans 3:23 “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.”
I John 1:8-10 “If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that His word has no place in our hearts.”
Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
God’s Word:
I believe that God’s Word is infallible that every word in the Bible is straight from God’s mouth. That it is as fresh today as the day He had it penned. I believe that it is able to cut down through man’s motives and get to the heart of things. I believe that it is everything we need for training in righteousness.
II Timothy 3:16 “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.”
Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.”
II Peter 1:20-21 “Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.”
The Holy Spirit and His Gifts:
I believe that every person is deposited with the Holy Spirit at the decision of salvation. I believe the Holy Spirit fills each member of the body with gifts that are used to build up His body, the Church. Many different gifts, one Spirit.
I Corinthians 12:4-11 “There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us. A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice, to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge. The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing. He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophecy. He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the Spirit of God or from another spirit. Still another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages, while another is given the ability to interpret what is being said. It is the one and only Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have.”
I Corinthians 12: 28-31 “Here are some of the parts God has appointed for the church: first apostles, second are prophets, third are teachers, then those who do miracles, those who have the gift of healing, those who can help others, those who have the gift of leadership, those who speak in unknown languages. Are we all apostles? Are we all prophets? Are we all teachers? Do we all have the power to do miracles? Do we all have the gift of healing? Do we all have the ability to speak in unknown languages? Do we all have the ability to interpret unknown languages? Of course not! So you should earnestly desire the most helpful gifts.
Ephesians 1:13-14 “And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. The Spirit is God’s guarantee that He will give us the inheritance He promised and that He has purchased us to be His own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.”
The Church:
I believe the church, universal, is the body of Christ. We are made up of different races, cultures, economic standings and denominations, but we are ALL ONE in Christ.
I Corinthians 12:12-14 “The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ. Some of us are Jews, some are Gentiles, some are slaves, and some are free. But we have all been baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit. Yes, the body has many different parts, not just one part.”
Ephesians 4:4-6 “For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father, who is over all and in all and living through all.”
